The Department of Nutrition and Health Science invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Nutrition and Dietetics. This position begins on January 7 or August 16, 2019. The Nutrition and Dietetics program is expanding in preparation for the grand opening of the new College of Health facility.  The Nutrition and Dietetics program is in the College of Health in addition to the

Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology; School of Kinesiology; School of Nursing; Department of Social Work; Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology; and, the Department of Military Science. There is a strong emphasis on interprofessional pedagogy and research. These units will be housed in the New Health Professions Building beginning in the summer of 2019.


Major responsibilities: Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition and dietetics with a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the university and the profession; establish a focused program of scholarship and publish in appropriate top-tier journals; direct master’s theses and projects; advise students; provide service to the campus, community, and the profession, while supporting ongoing program growth and development.


Minimum qualifications:


For Assistant Professor:

1. Doctorate in nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or closely-related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment.

2. Registered Dietitian designation or Registered Dietitian-eligible designation.

3. Relevant professional experience in nutrition/dietetics.

4. Evidence of ongoing or established scholarship.

5. Evidence of ability to mentor or have mentored students.

6. Ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate students.


For Associate/Full Professor:

1. Doctorate in nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or closely-related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment.

2. Registered Dietitian designation or Registered Dietitian-eligible designation.

3. At least five years of nutrition-related teaching experience.

4. Relevant professional experience in nutrition/dietetics.

5. Evidence of ongoing or established scholarship.

6. Evidence of ability to mentor or have mentored graduate students.


Preferred qualifications:

1. Active participation in professional organizations in the discipline.

2. Ability to promote collegiality in the professional setting.

3. Evidence of some teaching experience.

4. A strong interest in inter-professional pedagogy and scholarly collaboration.

5. Experience in online teaching.

6. Effective oral and written communication skills.

7. Professional, research or teaching experience in clinical nutrition.
