The Department of Nutrition at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Applied Nutrition at the Assistant Professor level. This position will be an integral component of the University of Nevada, Reno, the Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources.
The focus of this position is applied nutrition. This may include but is not limited to nutritional needs across the lifespan; wellness and chronic disease prevention; food and nutrition guidance; and/or nutrition policies and programs. The successful candidate will establish an impactful, independent research program in the area of applied nutrition as evidenced by extramural funding and publications in recognized scholarly journals. In addition, the candidate will contribute to vibrant undergraduate and graduate academic nutrition programs through effective teaching; advising and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds; and assisting with curriculum assessment and development. The candidate will also be expected to participate in academic and professional service commensurate with rank; and contribute to the outreach mission of this Land-Grant Institution. Collaborative efforts with faculty within CABNR and Cooperative Extension are anticipated.
PhD in nutrition or closely related discipline.
Postdoctoral research experience; evidence of independent and collaborative research activities; publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals; and success in securing extramural funding.
Evidence of effective teaching at a college/university; and advising students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
