Candidates should have an earned doctorate in nutritional science or related field, post-doctoral experience, a background commensurate with rank, and an active research program. Successful teaching experience preferred.

Primary responsibilities include conducting nationally visible, funded research in human nutrition research, preferably with a focus on nutritional genomics, nutritional immunology, nutritional epidemiology, or the human microbiome, as related to human health and disease; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in macronutrient/micronutrient metabolism, nutritional informatics, and related areas, supervising M.S. and Ph.D. students; and university service. All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces inclusion and diversity.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition (BHAN) includes undergraduate programs in Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutritional and Medical Sciences, Applied Nutrition, and Health Behavior Science. The department has a Ph.D in Nutrition Science, a M.S. in Human Nutrition, a Ph.D. in Health Behavior Science and Promotion, and a M.S. in Health Promotion. BHAN has over 80 graduate and 800 undergraduate students, and is known for rapidly growing research, dynamic teaching, and student engagement. Ranked fifth, nationally, among the best places to study the health professions by College Factual, the College of Health Sciences is a thriving academic unit of over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 130 faculty with outstanding research and teaching facilities. The College has recently opened an exciting new 100,000 sq. ft. clinical research facility (pictured above) and will occupy 7 floors in a 10-story tower opening in Fall 2018. The College also includes the departments of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $26 million, the College currently houses a number of large, inter-disciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The College boasts strong research teams in the areas of cardiovascular health, neurological disorders, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as rehabilitation science and concussion. There are also numerous collaborative ages with our clinical partners. Located in scenic Newark, Delaware, within 2 hours of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., the University is a Land Grant, Sea Grant, Space Grant, and Carnegie Research University (with very high research activity, a designation accorded to fewer than 3% of degree-granting institutions in the U.S.), and with external funding exceeding $200 million. A state-assisted, privately governed institution, the University enrolls approximately 17,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate students.
